ISSUE: Small explosion while grill is heating up.
CAUSE: Closing the lid while igniting.
It is so important to follow the "Lighting Instructions" in your owner's manual, leaving the lid open until the fire rod ignites the pellets in the firepot. If there are too many pellets in the firepot, the grill is going to smoke heavily and pressure will build inside the unit if you have closed the lid. The heavy concentration of smoke can ignite when the firepot catches, causing a small explosion in the unit, which can blow the door open and potentially cause harm to anyone near it. Leave the lid open when starting the grill.
