If you are having an issue getting your main grill up over 150 degrees Fahrenheit, it is most likely due to leaving one or both damper plates attached when mounting the firebox to your main grill. There should be nothing but space between the two grills, so the damper plates must be removed from both the main grill and the fire box. This is the only way to ensure good circulation for smoking.
